About Eppilus
A small firm, by design.
Eppilus is an Aspen-based custom integration company. We have worked on residential and commercial systems throughout Colorado since 2013 — and we take on a deliberately small number of projects a year.
Why we stay small
Integration is a trade where the difference between a good result and a poor one is almost entirely attention. The equipment is broadly the same across the industry. What varies is whether someone walked the site before specifying the cameras, whether the keypad engraving was thought about, whether the load schedule was checked against the actual fixtures, and whether anyone tested every function before handover.
That kind of attention doesn't scale well. We take on a small number of projects each year and give each of them the time it needs, rather than running a large crew across many jobs at once. It means we are not always the fastest to start. It also means the person who designed your system is the person who programmes it and the person who answers when you call.
Who runs it
Magnus Grimmett founded Eppilus in 2013. He spent twenty years in institutional finance, beginning in London as CTO and a board member of a hedge fund, before moving to Colorado. He also co-founded Mustang Commercial, a development business working across the Western Slope and the Front Range.
It is an unusual background for an integrator, and it is the reason the networks and control systems we build are engineered rather than assembled. Running trading infrastructure teaches you what happens when a network fails at the wrong moment — and that habit of designing for the failure case is exactly what a house full of connected systems needs.

What we do
We design control systems that integrate every part of a home or building — lighting, audio, video, climate, security, access control, alarms and shading — into a single interface for control and monitoring. That means your lights, door locks, garage doors, home theater, cameras and network all live in one place.
We are certified Control4, Lutron, Ketra and Sonos dealers. We are based in Aspen and work throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, and we travel for established clients — we have completed projects in New York, Florida and Canada.
Simulators
We have built custom simulators for clients across the valley — golf, shooting, racing and flight. In several cases we have built multi-purpose rooms where the same space switches from one to another, with the lighting, shading and audio moving to match, all on a single button. A racing simulator with motion seating is currently under construction at our own office.
How we price
Every project is priced individually, because every property is different. What we can say is that we would rather scope a project honestly and lose it on budget than win it and compromise the parts that matter. If a smaller system done properly is the right answer, that is what we will propose.
The single biggest factor in what a system costs is when we get involved. Infrastructure installed during pre-wire costs a fraction of the same infrastructure retrofitted afterwards.
Our process
Consult. Integrate. Support.
We aim to consult first and define a scope, work through scenarios and demonstrate where we can, then stay available long after the project is complete.
01
Consultation
We start by understanding the scope — what you want the house to do, how you actually live in it, and what the budget needs to achieve. Where it helps we demonstrate, either at our Aspen office or at a completed installation.
02
Design & integration
We produce the system design, coordinate with your architect, interior designer and electrical contractor through pre-wire, then install, programme and test every function before handover.
03
Support
We install reliable systems, and we back them with remote monitoring so most issues are found and fixed before you notice them. You will always be able to reach your technician.
Service area
Where we work.
Based at the Aspen Airport Business Center, ten minutes from town, and working throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
Planning a build or a renovation?
The earlier we're involved, the better the result and the lower the cost.
