Aspen · Roaring Fork Valley

Home theater & television

We installed the first 8K home theater in Aspen. That project is a fair summary of how we approach the discipline: get the room right first, then the picture, then the sound, then make the whole thing disappear behind one button.

The room comes first

A great projector in a poor room is a waste of money. Before we specify equipment we model the space — seating distances, sightlines to the screen, ceiling height, first reflection points, and the acoustic behaviour of the surfaces already in the design. Where we're brought in early enough we work with the architect and interior designer on wall build-ups, riser heights and where the acoustic treatment can hide inside the joinery.

In the Roaring Fork Valley the timber-frame and stone-and-glass builds that are common here are acoustically lively, and rooms with a wall of glass onto the mountains need shading integrated into the AV design rather than added afterwards.

Dedicated theaters

A dedicated screening room is the one place in the house where the technology gets to set the terms. 4K and 8K laser projection, Stewart or Screen Research screens, Dolby Atmos layouts from 7.1.4 upwards, calibrated with test equipment rather than by eye. Lighting and shading are on the same scene as the projector, so one press takes the room from lit to cinema.

Media rooms and television

Not every house wants a dedicated theater, and a well-executed media wall in a living space is often the better answer. We handle large-format OLED and mini-LED installations, fully recessed mounts that sit flush with the plaster, art-frame and concealed televisions, outdoor screens rated for altitude and cold, and soundbar-beating in-wall and in-ceiling speaker systems that stay invisible.

Sources live in a rack in the plant room and are distributed over the network, so there are no boxes under the television and no cable visible anywhere.

Calibration and aftercare

Every screen and projector we install is calibrated to reference standards for the room's actual light conditions, and every speaker layout is measured and time-aligned. We re-calibrate on request as lamps and panels age, and we monitor the systems remotely so a failed source or a dropped handshake is usually fixed before you call.

Scope

What this includes.

Every project is specified individually. This is the range we design, install, programme and support.

  • Dedicated home theater design and build
  • 4K and 8K laser projection
  • Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 and larger
  • Stewart Filmscreen and acoustically transparent screens
  • Room acoustic modelling and treatment
  • Large-format OLED and mini-LED television
  • Flush and concealed TV mounting
  • Outdoor televisions rated for altitude
  • Rack-mounted, centralised sources
  • ISF-standard picture and sound calibration

Planning a build or a renovation?

The earlier we're involved, the better the result and the lower the cost.
